Tees and Greens for Each Tier

Pro: Medium tees, fast greens

Tour Pro: Medium tees, very fast greens

Master: Hard tees, very fast greens

Tour Master: Hard tees, tournament (1) greens.

Legends do two steps in one: Champion tees, tournament (2) greens.

Tour Legends: Champion tees, championship greens.

Yes, there are two different tournament green speeds sharing one designation.

Be advised to check the green speed with every game. Beginners may change tiers so quickly that they can hardly accommodate to a green speed, and in rated multiplayer games the highest tier commands the green speed (not players’ choice but system selection).

Advancing from Tier to Tier

When your average score is equal or smaller than 100 you go from hack to amateur.

When it is equal or smaller than 80 you go from Amateur to Pro.

When it is equal or smaller than 72 you go from Pro to Tour Pro

When it is equal or smaller than 67 you go from Tour Pro to Master

When it is equal or smaller than 63 you go from Master to Tour Master

When it is equal or smaller than 61 you go from Tour Master to Legend

When it is equal or smaller than 60 you go from Legend to Tour Legend*

and

you need to play at least 5 ranked rounds as hack before reaching Amateur

you need to play at least 10 ranked rounds as amateur before reaching Pro

you need to play at least 20 ranked rounds as Pro before reaching Tour pro

you need to play at least 25 ranked rounds as Tour pro before reaching Master

you need to play at least 40 ranked rounds as Master before reaching Tour Master

you need to play at least 50 ranked rounds as Tour Master before reaching Legend

You need at least 500 ranked rounds as Legend before reaching Tour Legend

Notice that those minimal number of ranked rounds are also the number of best rounds used to compute your average in that particular tier. So if you are Tour Master for example, your average is computed with your best 50 ranked round (that's why you need at least 50 rounds to move up).

Have you optimized your system lately?

It is recommended that you clear your Flash and Browser cache every time we release a Product Update.  If you haven't cleared your Flash and Browser caches since we released St. Andrews then chances are you might be experiencing some slower load times and/or frequent load manager errors, especially during the start of the game.

To fix these problems:

  1. Click --->  Optimize Your WGT Experience

  2. Follow the instructions at the bottom of that post to clear your Flash &Browser caches.

  3. Restart your browser and try again!

When you clear your Flash and Browser cache you are deleting the game files and settings that are stored on your PC.  That means during your very first game you will experience longer than normal wait times while your PC re-downloads the necessary course and game files.  That also means you will need to reset any in-game options such as graphics quality and reflections before you tee off for your first round.

You should NOT clear your caches every day or every week.  That will only cause you more headache because you will constantly be downloading game assets. You should only clear caches when we release a Product Update or if you start to experience prolonged loading issues!

Also, a few random tips for improved performance:

  1. Decrease your graphics quality in your game options.  The default setting is High, but for many players this will still cause a fair amount of meter stutter.  Try setting the graphics quality to Medium or even Low for a smoother meter.  Turning down the graphics quality only affects the GUI itself, your avatar and your scorecard.  It does not affect the look of the course photos.  This is the #1 reported quick-fix for meter problems.

  2. Turn off  Reflections

  3. Turn off Flag Animations

  4. Turn off the Putting Grid.  When set to OFF the putting grid will be displayed for you while you line up your putt, but it will disappear when you begin to set power.  This can help reduce stutter on the greens.

  5. Pull the flag out of the hole before you putt.

  6. The WGT window can be re-sized to any size or shape by clicking and dragging the bottom right-hand corner of the game window.  Try a half-sized screen and see if that makes a difference.

  7. Bookmark the game client directly. (http://wgt.com/gameclient.aspx)

  8. Shut down the WGT website in the background.  Run the game window only!

  9. Don't play multiple games one after another.  Play one round and after the round is over you should exit your browser and restart it before playing again.

  10. Taking #9 one step further here. If you are playing an 18-hole solo tournament consider saving your game after 9 holes and reloading the window to play the back 9.

  11. Make sure you are using the most current version of Adobe Flash Player.  You can get the latest version HERE.  Please note that we do not support the BETA release of Flash.

  12. Make sure you have the most current drivers for your video card.   The latest ATI graphics card drivers can be found HERE.   The latest NVIDIAgraphics card drivers can be found HERE.
