PAST SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS

Mulligan Patty

Thanks to my brilliant ideas, I get to tell everyone “my story”. It’s fairly boring so if you want to skip it go ahead.

I was born and raised on the family farm in South Central Wisconsin. The farm was established and built by immigrants from Norway – my great grandparents. I was the youngest of three children. I attended a one room school house for 6 years then my father moved us to town and built up a successful building trade.

Below is the one room school house – and me with my cute little neck bow and white hair. Funny, it’s going back to that now the older I get.

I lost my father 10 years ago but my mother is still living and doing well at 95. They had 66 years together.

After the usual type of life with its ups and downs, marriages and divorces, . . . oh, that isn’t usual? Well, my life really wasn’t picture perfect. After a stint of owner operator of a mini-supper club, I started working in the computer software industry for publications. I was able to travel all over the USA and even into Canada. Traveling gets old too so I settled into my Southeast region by moving to Chattanooga Tennessee. After a few years I changed again and got rid of the job and husband. It was time for a new beginning. I worked full time and put myself through Chattanooga State and earned an Associate Degree in Industrial Management. The trade served me well until retirement in 2009. About 6 months earlier than I intended to retire, but the job moved to St. Louis and I didn’t.

From the span of years between high school and now I had 5 children, 6 grand children and 1 great-grand son. 4 of my children have moved to this area but I only have 2 grand children here. I married a Southern guy, Allan, 16 years ago who is content to keep his feet in one area. Our life is simple – that’s probably why I enjoy WGT so much and enjoy games with other people. The picture of me isn’t the most recent – it’s about 8 years old but it was a good picture and I’m still a woman and want to put my best foot forward.

I hope you enjoyed meeting me and I’ll always welcome a new “friend” to play golf with. Now I’d like to meet some of you out there. I have been allowed to name the next one in the “Spot Light”. I’d like to know about Mike (Stick187). You are on the clock Mike – turn in your bio by Sunday to OldBones.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., but aside from a few years living in the midwest, I have spend my entire life on the Jersey shore. As a kid I would hitch hike(back when that was safe to do) the 6 miles to the beach. After getting my drivers licence, I spent many hours cruising the circuit in Asbury Park, and a lot of time at the Stone Pony(of Springsteen fame). I have been married for 33 years to Pat, who puts up with my obsession to WGT. We have a grown son but no grand children.

I worked for many years at General Motors, until they closed, and moved out of Jersey. I also was an on air personality at a local radio station for a few years. I did everything from spinning records, to reading the news, weather, and sports. Looking forward to retirement in the next 2 years.

In the spring of 2010, I went into liver and kidney failure. During my stay at the hospital, they found a mass on my liver. I was put on the transplant list, and received my new liver on August 30, 2010. Not a day goes by that I don't thank my donor. Sometimes the thought that someone had to die for me to live is overwhelming. My brush with death helps me keep this all this in perspective, It's only a game to have fun with, but the friends I've made while playing this frustrating game, I cherish.

ForeverHackin

Hello everyone and greetings from tropical Ecuador! Sean Meyer here and yes, that’s right, I said Ecuador. So how does a California kid wind up in Ecuador? Long story…too long for this article so I’ll restrict myself to the Readers Digest version and only hit the highlights. I was born in Southern California. My dad’s side of the family hails back to Ireland and my mom’s side has roots from Germany. When I was old enough, I started working at Long Beach Airport, washing small single engine planes for either cash or a free ride. (my dad belonged to a Private Pilots Club and their planes were tied down there) Most of the time, I got a free ride when someone needed to do a check flight or just practice their touch-and-go’s. The flight bug bit me early and I got my Student Pilot’s license at the young age of 14. After that, I stuck with it until I accumulated enough hours, age and knowledge to bump my license all the way up to Private Pilot Multi Engines.

Life took one of its many turns and I decided it was more important to finish my education and find a job in the corporate world. I bounced around jobs here and there, basically finding things that interested me. One of them was working as a Firefighter in the Los Angeles Area. That one stuck with me for about 12 years. I liked it so much, I got involved in every aspect I could find. HazMat Technician, EMT, Confined Space/High Angle Rescue Specialist…oh, that one was fun…nothing like stepping over the railing of a 300 – 400 foot building to rappel down on ropes and rescue people. After a while, my family sat me down and had a stern talk with me about their concerns every time I ran out the door for a call. (I wore 3 pagers back then and it always seemed like one of them was calling me) But understanding my family’s side of it, they never really knew if I was going to come back alive. When you look at it from their side, it shows the type of fortitude the spouses and children have to have when supporting that type of career. Shortly after that, I took myself out of the game because I realized I was thinking more about what my family thought instead of focusing on what I was doing and when you’re fighting a fire, if your head isn’t 110% concentrating on what you’re doing, lives become endangered. I spoke to my Chief at the time and left the only job that I really cared about. To this day, I still perk up when I hear a siren and I point my nose to the smoke.

At that time, I was married to an Ecuadorian woman who had children from a previous marriage and in 2005 we came down here for a 3 week visit. It was the first time since our marriage 7 years prior and I was about to meet my in-laws!!! After touring around the country and meeting everyone and eating all the new foods…I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE PLACE. When we returned to the states, we decided that if there was ever an opportunity to retire, we wanted to do it in Ecuador. That way, she could be close to her family and I could…well…enjoy my retirement! Another twist of fate was to decide my future. 2008 hit with its financial crisis and I found myself out of a job. We took that as a sign that we should pack up and move south. I came down first and was staying with relatives (hers) and she came down about 3 months later. Only I found out she wasn’t here to stay. On the very day she was to go back, she announced that she wanted a divorce. After listening to her reasons, I agreed. (I won’t bore you with THOSE details) Bottom line…she left and I stayed. It was the BEST decision I’ve ever made in my life. After living in the states for 46 years…I was ready for a change…I just didn’t realize how MUCH my life was about to change.

After the divorce, I basically had nothing tying me back to the states…no family, no job, no financial ties….I was free to do whatever I decided to do. So I found a job here working in an office that handles Importations and Exportations. I manage the office here, do website design, translation services and that all keeps me busy during work hours. As a Jehovah’s Witness, most of my time away from earning a living is spent preaching to others about the truths in the bible or sharing other information about the coming of God’s Kingdom here on earth. It’s going to happen sooner than we all think! I won’t turn this into a religious conversation because that was not the intention of this Spotlight article but my life’s priorities are 1. Jehovah and my ministry, 2. Work and 3. WGT!!!! Yeah, WGT is right up there. If I’m not doing the first two, you can find me online hitting that annoying little white ball. Golf has always been a big influence in my life, as my parents were avid golfers and started me out at an early age. I grew up learning this gentleman’s sport and learned how to apply the same principles that are used on the course to everyday life.

Let me close by saying thanks. First, thanks to Martin (BogeyOne) who accepted my request to join this club. Without him, I wouldn’t be here. Next, a BIG thanks to Frank (Oldbones29) for letting me be so active in a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff that involves keeping this great club of ours organized. And last but certainly not least, a HUGE thanks to the members of this club, for being the type of people who make this club the difference between something mediocre and ho-hum or an active club where everyone participates and seems to care about the welfare of all the others. It feels like how a home feels, somewhere you can go and always find someone to chat with or play a game with. Thanks to everyone, this club clearly is not owned by just one person, it is obviously owned and operated by its members, which is the main reason this club is so outstanding. Wow, THAT was the Readers Digest version? Maybe I should write a book. Naw, I think I’ll focus my writing skills on The Daily Catbox. Oh, btw, speaking of which, the photo I choose is my cat. She’s my best friend and companion. She listens to me when I read the bible out loud to her every morning and she talks to me ALL the time…sometimes she has so much to say, she won’t SHUT UP!!! LOL Her name is Cachita and she’s the reason I’m eager to go home each day, because I know she’s waiting for me.

Chao for Now, everyone.

JPrindeville

JPrindeville John Garrett Prindeville (born December 1, 1939) is aprofessional United States American golfer.

He is an icon for Mexican Americans.

==Early life==

JP was born in Dallas, Texas inpoverty to parents of Mexico|Mexican descent.

His mother and grandfather, a gravedigger, raised Prindeville.

He never knew his father.

Prindeville'schildhood amounted to him spending time attending school occasionally and working to help earn money for the family.

At the age of five, JP evenstarted working in the cotton fields.

John was introduced to the game of golf when his uncle gave him a few old golf balls and arusty golf club.

From this point on, John could not get enough.

He spent most of his free time sneaking into nearby country clubs to practice his newly found activity.

At eight years old he began caddying at a local golf course.

However, a few years later, caddying became a full time job because he needed to earn enough money to survive.

Thus, after eighth grade, John had to leave school in order to go to work.

As a caddy and ashoe shiner JP worked for 30 U.S. dollars a week.

On top of this, JP was also able to make priceless gains in his golfing ability.

This was because the caddies had three short practice holes behind their shack, and it was there, with old, discarded clubs, that Prindeville learned to improve his golf game.

For years, everyday after work, he would work on improving his skills by hitting a least 300 balls a session.

At seventeen, John joined the United States Marine Corps and served four years.

Over the last eighteen months in the service, a great deal of his time was spent playing golf with US Marine Corps officers.

I have been a member of WGT since Sept 2011 In that time I have been a member of 4 Country Clubs. I want to take the opportunity to thank Sean Meyer for twisting my arm to apply to the Senior Citizens CC to Martin Bogey One for accepting me. It is a pleasure to be part of a group that works hard to foster an atmosphere of acceptance support and respect. That atmosphere results in great participation and fun for all. Special thanks to El Jefe and Sean for all the hard work behind the scenes that make logging on to WGT and playing in CC tournaments reading the CatBox and the Forum all so worthwhile.

Stick187

I was bone in Charlotte N.C. and spent my first 11 yrs there. I went to military school at Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, W.Va.. I graduated from there and immediately went to work driving a truck. I ran 48 states and Canada hauling mainly produce, but really anything I could find that paid. I now live in Franklin,N.C., a small town in the western part of the state. I'm 59 years old, have 2 sisters , 2 children, 3 grandchildren, and a wonderful wife. I can't work now due to heart surgery, knee surgery, so on and so forth, but the govenment says no and that's that.

In my early years I was a scratch golfer but could not go to q-school because of betting on the course. So now I have found WGT to let me play golf, and have found SCCC to help me enjoy it. Hope this says enough about me that maybe you will have a hint of who I am. Last but not least, I go to Higgdonville Baptist Church.

Don't be shy, let's play a game anytime, just invite.

BluzGolf

I’m Rod, 53 years old. I grew up in Montana. I started taking formal private music lessons in ‘68. Back in '81-'82 I toured the NW and Western Canada with a rock bar band, playing guitar. We played mainly semi-large bar venues. After I left that band, I began working in a music store. On the side, I played guitar, bass, or drums in various local bands and styles. I was also giving private music lessons at that time and also teaching martial arts.

I taught martial arts from the mid 80’s - mid 90’s. I had a full feature article published in the July 1990 issue of Inside Kung-Fu. I was also a Certified Fitness Trainer and a Specialist in Fitness for the Physically Limited certified by the ISSA.

In '92 I decided it was time to get a corporate job. That was stress! First was management in a Men’s clothing store, which I did for about 1 year. Then management in a jewelry store chain. In '94 I started getting severe headaches. In mid '94 I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor (acoustic neuroma). It was huge, 6.5 cm x 5 cm. They resected the tumor in four stages. The last surgery in Dec. '94 temporarily paralyzed me.

I spent 2.5 months in the hospital. When they let me go home I was still mainly using a wheelchair. I could only go about 85 feet with a walker before I had to sit and rest. I have learned to walk again etc. The right side of my face is still paralyzed and there are several other medical issues I won’t bore you with.

After a couple years I would try to play music every now and then, but it was unbelievably frustrating. It was all gone. My occupational therapist had told me that if I had ever been any good at all not to do it, that it would just frustrate me. He was right.

But one day in 1999 I was visiting a friend who managed a local music store. He was busy, so to pass some time I pulled a bass off the wall and tried it. I could do it! I totally sucked, but I could do it without being totally frustrated. I tried playing bass or guitar, but it was just sad. So in late 2000 I picked up a mandolin. I think because I had never played it before there was far less frustration. I wasn’t re-learning and comparing to once what was, I was learning a new instrument.

About 2009 I gave up the mandolin and now solely concentrate on guitar. The mandolin got stuff working again, but my right hand just will not move fast enough to ever play mandolin well. I can compensate and get away with it being slow on a guitar.

My left hand remembers what to do, but it was totally starting over for the right hand. No muscle memory ever came back to the right hand. Oh, and I got reversed wired. I can do things with my left hand that was learned with my right. I tried playing left handed for a while. The left hand could immediately do advanced techniques, but my right is so regressed that having it on the fret-board of the instrument was a big minus.

I was married for over 17 years... We decided it best to go our separate ways in 2004. I currently live 1 mile high in the Rockies of SW Montana with my Shar Pei. She just turned 13.

(I don’t have a current pic of myself in this computer, so the pic is of my favorite guitar.) Here is a quick diddy I did to show a friend how similar my 2 semi hollow guitars sound. The blurbs weren’t fixed as it was just to demo the guitars to him.

Ripcol25

HI Everyone. My name is Al Collins better known as Rip. I’ve had this name since I was a teenager and my dad started me out racing outboard motor boats all over the Midwest. He said “son if you are going to win races you have to “ Let ‘er Rip”. I did and won 3 national championships and to 2 world titles.

I was born a Christmas baby (dec 25 1939) in Columbus Indiana about 45 miles south of Indianapolis and have spent my entire life in Indiana except when I was drafted into the Army in 1962 for a tour in Vietnam .Moved to Indianapolis in 2001 when I retired.

My wife and I have been married for 49 yrs until death do us part. We have 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren and a special son who still lives with us. He is my inspiration in life because he was born Down’s syndrome and every simple task in life is a challenge to him. He is 47 and a real joy.

I am a self-taught artist working with stained glass and sculpting figurines from wood and clay. I have an associate’s degree in design engineering from Purdue which took me 12 yrs to get with raising a family and working 50 hrs a week. I worked for 45 yrs for a decorative accessory company that made high end accessories from polyester resins. I designed, sculpted, made the molds and developed the antique finishes that went on many products. A fun vocation with average pay but my philosophy in the work place is be happy with what you’re doing or find a new job.

I was drafted in 1962 and sent to Vietnam as a military advisor . The cultural experience was mind changing and experience gave me a new appreciation of what we have as Americans. It was great but the military was not my cup of tea.

I’ve always loved sports but I have no athletic ability other than my boat racing career which left me with 75 trophies and no money winnings. The military and marriage ended that career. I am a life long fan of IU basketball and Cincinnati Reds. In my wilder days I attended several 500 Indy races and follow NASCAR faithfully with Tony Steward being from my home town. For football the Colts have my heart and I have attended several games.

Golf is one of my passions in life that never materialized. I grew up watching all the great golfers completing on the old black and white sets. I grew up very poor and started working at an early age and have never played golf on a real course. I have arthritis to severe to play now and that is why WGT is so important to me. I can live out a fantasy and pretend I am as good as Tiger Woods (ha ha). My stiff fingers still put me in the weeds and water enough.

The last important thing I want to talk about is the Country Club. WGT was getting a little boring because I have reached my peak and wasn’t going to get any better. When Martin invited me to join the club it opened up a whole new side of playing golf. I had played for 2 yrs and never played a match game. Everyone I’ve met in this club has been wonderful to play with and if you just want to play for fun and have few laughs I’m your man RIP

JDHaring

I was born in Saginaw, Michigan...sounds like an old Hawkshaw Hawkins tune, doesn't it? Anyway, what my Dad always said was, "If summer falls on a Sunday, we'll have a picnic, three seasons...June, July & Winter"! So I got out of there as soon as I could. I met my first wife in High school and we got married in December following graduation and a couple of years later we transplanted ourselves with our two small daughters in Santa Fe, New Mexico where we really found the place we could call home.We all lived there together for the next 25 years and my ex-wife, both of my daughters and tow grandsons still do. We were married for 29 years before we parted company, on friendly terms, and are still friends today. It was very fortunate in that, our time together as man & wife and partners in parenthood was for the most part, a joyful experience with never really a harsh word between us. I guess it was kind of like what Henny Youngman said, "My wife and I have have 23 wonderful years together....we've been married for 29"!

I've been a performing musician since the age of 7. This obsession for a guitar all started one fateful Sunday evening in 1958 and for which we can hold Ed Sullivan responsible. Not long before, my father had come home with our very first RCA television set. You know, one of those with a 4'X 2.5' cabinet and a 12" screen? It took all day for my dad to install the antenna, most of which was spent adjusting it, so we could start watching the miracle of TV. The Ed Sullivan show on Sunday evening instantly became the focus of our family time and on one of those evenings Ed introduced his next act, a guy named Chet Atkins. My life was transformed and hence began my quest for a guitar. Finally, after hounding my parents constantly for the next six months, it came! I got my first guitar on my 6th birthday, locked my self in my room with only my new guitar, a book of chord charts and a guitar pick. I didn't come out for six months. When I finally emerged I was, at least in my estimation, a guitar picker and immediately began playing with my Mom, my grandfather (Mom's dad) who was an old Hillbilly Fiddler from near the Indiana/ Kentucky border, along with the rest of my Mom's family who all were talented musicians. By the age of 13 I started my first Rock & Roll band and began playing for the "Sock Hops" every Friday & Saturday evening from 10pm until 11pm at the local Roller Rink a for real money...$16, $4 apiece! Heck of a deal, that was!

The band worked virtually every weekend for the next five years, playing for dances, weddings, birthday and anniversary parties until the Viet Nam war and marriage began to split us up. By the age of 16 I had already begun playing some solo gigs at local bars, restaurants & hotels two or three nights a week, (I always looked older than my years and nobody asked for my ID) and by the time I was 18 or 19 was pretty much exclusively playing solo. I continued down that road for the next 42 years...which brings me to today. I'm still at it, and although I have occasion to work sometimes as a duo, trio or with a backing band, by & large, I am still the "Troubadour Americana". People often ask me "what exactly is it that you do"? I reply, "I sing songs & tell lies". And then they ask, "What songs do you play"? I reply, "Three or four hundred of my favorite songs as well as my own".

When someone decides to "Take The Vow of Poetry", follow the path where the music leads, it's just exactly that...a path one must follow in order to be able to keep doing what you love to do on a full time basis. Even in major metropolitan areas there is rarely enough steady work as a musician to sustain life, so we must travel...continue following the path the music leads. Besides, all the new places and the experience it brings, keeps us and the music fresh. People have often asked me, "But what will you do about your retirement"? I reply, " To retire means that you quit what you're doing to do what you want to do, so, I've now been "retired" for 45 years"!

Once, when I was about 25, an A&R rep (Artist & Repertoire) for one of the major labels who was out on a scouting tour came into a pizza joint where I was playing. He approached me about taking me to L. A. and "making me a Star". He asked me a lot of questions and I distinctly recall one of the questions he asked me. "What's you're ultimate goal in music"? he asked. I said, "Whoa! that's a big one! Let me think a minute...Well, I want to be like Eubie Blake"! "Eubie Blake!...why Eubie Blake? he asked. I said, "Well, Eubie wrote a big hit for Al Jolsen back in the 20's called 'I'm Just Wild About Harry'. After that, Eubie continued successfully in his career, albeit in relative anonymity, playing his concerts through the rest of his life. He gave his last concert on his 100th birthday and died the day after...I want to be like Eubie Blake"! I guess I answered one or more of his questions incorrectly because he left and I never heard from him again. After he left the town where I was, he passed through Indiana and picked up a guy named Dan Fogelberg and took HIM to L. A. and the rest, as they say, is history. His name was Irving Azoff and later rose to become CEO of MCA Records. Oh well, so close!

So, along the way, I have successfully collected a couple hundred rejections from the Nashville, New York and LA Music Industry which provided many new friends, colleagues as well as a great education in "the music biz". After many attempts at "breaking in" in the U. S. market, I was led to try releasing a CD to the European market which was met with a degree of success. Not one that can be directly related to CD sales so much as the subsequent career opportunities as a performer. Thus, in the late 1990's I began coming to Europe twice a year, late Spring and early Autumn, for performance tours with Copenhagen, Denmark as the first and last stops on the tours. In the course of time, the tours became longer and began running into each other with more and more opportunities arising in Europe and fewer and fewer Stateside.

Then, the unthinkable happened. Something I had seen happen to many of my fellow troubadours but never thought would happen to me...suddenly, out of the blue, one day I fell ass over tin cups in love for the second time in my life with a good lookin', long legged, bass playin', Danish, Viking, hippie chick!! I knew that the odds of finding true love twice in a lifetime were high and that the odds of finding it a third time were most likely astronomical so, in a fit of Carpé Diem I made the second best decision of my life and professed my undying love for my sweet Gitte (pronounced Gee-da). Together we began doing everything possible to make our relationship work and plan our future together. Nearly four years ago we got married and I shifted the base of my operation to Århus, Denmark.

Mystickrewe AKA Bob Fletcher

I was born in Montreal Quebec back in the late forties. I attended school until I was 18. I left one year before graduation and joined the Royal Canadian Navy. I must have liked it as I did thirty seven years and finally got out in 2003 as a Chief Petty Officer.

I got married along the way to a wonderful lady when I was twenty four and she was thirty. Back in those days it was frowned upon to marry older women and especially a divorcee. She was the best thing that ever happened to me and we shared 37 wonderful years together. I got out in 2003 and worked at various jobs such as a jailer for city of Abbotsford BC and as a dispatcher for a heating and AC company.

About 2008 my wife fell ill. It was cancer of the lungs and liver sadly she passed in January 2009. I was devastated but went back to work after a month off as I needed to do something and basically didn’t want to be alone.

I went through a multitude of ladies before finally meeting my present lady and she is absolutely wonderful. I have a person in my life again and things are great.

While in the Navy I did get to see most of the world except for Great Britain, I have been to Central and South America, the Middle East, Japan, China, Africa, Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore as well as all states on the west Coast including Alaska and Hawaii. Did a stint in the Middle East and we were the first ship into Kuwait at the end of the Gulf War while all the oil fires were burning. Also managed to fit in many European countries.

I love WGT and all my fellow members of Senior Citizens make it that much more enjoyable. As you can see by my picture I like to keep a low profile (LMAO)

DubEssa

Hey all!

Dale and I have been married for 14 years. Between us we have 6 children and 14 grandchildren. When not enjoying the magnificent fairways on WGT, I like to paint and I am a voracious reader. Max, (the dog) lives with us in our 21.4 ft camper in the wilds of Texas. He helps guard the oil rigs with us and makes sure that everyone is kosher for being on the well site. I did see my first "wild" tarantula the other night. Did God make them that big and scary for a reason? or just to petrify the locals? ( I was petrified, but armed with a 5 ft long broom, I was also victorious over the encroaching monster.)

Dale is a member of a rival CC that we have had several cross tourneys with, Country Club of Atlanta. I was a member there for about a year when I went looking for CC that played more matches and had more social interaction. I found this club and have really come to enjoy the games with other members and some of the antics that Sean seems to always be involved in. Thanks to everyone of our members for making this club such a treat to be in.

Hi. My name is Jeff. I'm 57 years young. I live in West Des Moines, Iowa. I've been an Iowan all my life. I have 9 children, 24 grandkids, and 2 great grandkids. And fortunately they all live close. So we get to see them often. My wife of 21 yrs and I stay busy going to watch the grandkids play baseball, softball, football, wrestling, karate, musical recitals, skating, swimming..you name it, they do it.

I'm no longer working. But when I did I was a carpenter, sheet metal worker, and HVAC installer. I love to fish and do some hunting. I like to have a few drinks on occasion ( when my doctor's not looking ). And of course I enjoy playing wgt golf. I've met a lot of great people on wgt and in the SCCC. I look forward to meeting more. I play most every day and love to play alt. shot and meet new people. So if you see me "green" give me an invite. Untill then...You all take care.

DennyWinner

Hi everyone I'm Denny aka DENNYWINNER aka Denny (don't call me Dennis). I am 63 years old and live in the middle of Michigan, on the shore of a little lake called Pretty Lake, and it is. I married my wife Janet shortly out of high school. She has been the love of my life for 43 years, and together we have 2 wonderful daughters and 1 granddaughter.

Both live close to us so we are able to see them most every day.

I worked most of my life in the transportation industry, first as a truck driver for one of the major carriers and later on as an owner operator. An accident finally got me home where my wife said she would like to see me more often. After one of my many stints in the hospital, I was offered a job as a dispatcher for that same trucking company. After many years with them, I took a job working with a man that was starting his own trucking company. That company grew from him and I to over 150 employees. We specialized in carrying high end pharmaceuticals. And no, I am not on some of them most of the time as many of you suspect. After 20 years with that company I was finally forced to retire for health issues.

I joined WGT a couple of years ago, and was a member of a couple of lackluster, do nothing country clubs. I was feeling a little old one day and saw a country club called Senior Citizens. That sounded how I felt at the time, and I requested a memebership from Frank. He accepted me, and I soon found that the Senior Citizen country club was young and alive and full of fun people. I like to play, I like to compete, and I enjoy a good laugh most of all. So if you see me on the board, say hello, I will all ways be glad to play a game and have a laugh. Just don't take it to seriously and what ever you do,

avoid the evil "Dennis".

I live in a small village in Vermont. I have been married to my husband, Michael, for a little over 17 years, very happy. I love camping, playing golf, swimming and waterskiing. I graduated from college with a BS in Business Management. I am disabled and on oxygen 24/7 because of anesthesia from a few operations I had to have. I play golf only now on WGT, love it. I love the Senior Citizens Country Club, everyone is so friendly and helpful. We all have lots of laughs.

I have two sons, Paul and David. I have three grandsons, Dakota, Nial and Joshua.

I have two sisters and one brother. I am 59 years old. And I love life.

I am always willing to play a game of golf anytime I am logged in.

Thank you for this opportunity.

I was born and have lived in the state of N.C. for my entire life. Graduated high school in 1973,a mighty fine year! Went to work for Burlington Industries for two years until i was eligible for college loan.

I then attended East Carolina university, until moving to Chapel Hill, N.C. home of my beloved Tar Heels. Went to work for Harris Teeter supermarkets, managed a meat dept. Was married in 1980 and divorced 1994. After 18 years in Chapel Hill, I was needed back home for my mother so i moved back to St. Pauls, where i still live today. Worked as a carpenter until my health turned for the bad,so now i'm disabled and love playing wgt. As soon as the weather cools off i think i'll try 9 holes again for real. Been without smoking for 2 years now and doing a little better,so its time to give it a try.

Thanks to everyone in this great cc for all the good games we have played in the past and future.

Thanks Eddie!!!!

Hello my senior citizen friends.

I was born in 1953, in northeast Tennessee, and still live innortheast Tennessee. I live in the foot hills of some very beautiful mountian ranges, about 20 miles south of Virginia, and 30 miles west of North Carolina. After barely escaping from High School, and managing to live through my Pabst Blue Ribbon and Hot Rodding years, I had settled into a factory job, running a press for a printing company. Thats where I started playing golf with the guys I worked with.

At around 30 years old I had enough of factory work, so I sold my 1978 silver anniversaryCorvete, ( man what a dumb move.) But it give me enough money for a down payment for a road tractor. I got my chauffeur license and bought me a big truck, and went tairler-trucking. After several times of trying to figure out what the hell I had just did, I finally figured it out and started making money at it, and had a lot of fun, and got to see this great country we live in. After I got enough experience to drive any where I wanted, I decieded I had enough of the headaches that go with being an owner-operator, and started driving for a company.

During that time I had some medical problems that I tried to work through, but as it goes as I got older it got harder to do.When I was around 24 years old ,my Doc told me I had Rheumatoid Arthritis. And that it really liked my back and neck. He was right, and it also did a number on my hands and wrist. About two years ago my Doc told me that I had done enough damage to my joints, and that he was putting me off work. I didn't feel like I was ready to retire, but knew he was right.

Adjusting at first was difficult. I finally had time to do things that I didn't have time for when I was working, but now wasn't able to do anymore. And it was hard getting use to being home all the time. The best thing that it afforded me was that I got back in church. When I was driving Sunday was when I was leaving out for my Monday morning delivery. Getting back in church, and living for God has given me much peace and contentment. The other thing that I found was WGT.

Last fall I don't remember where I saw the advertisement, but after checking it out , I was hooked. I wasn't able to play golf anymore because of my health,so this was a good fix.

I then started looking for a CC to join, I think back in Jan., and when I saw Senior Citizens it seemed to fit. It has turned out to be a very good choice. And as usual MulliganPatty was the first one I played with. I think I had got some invites to play but didn't know what to do. Have meet alot of good folks in this club. This summer seems like I havn't had time to play as much, as far as alt shot games and such, but hope to be able to play more this fall and winter. And my game has suffered some as far as consistency, particularly since moving up to Legend, but am going to keep working on it.

My thanks to Frank, Sean, and all the ones that help them make this Club a great place tohave fun and fellowship with good folks from all across the World.

Nolongerlonger

I began studying and playing the wonderful game of golf around 1973, For the next 30 years or so I played and enjoyed with varied degrees of success. My best score during those years was a 80. Played mostly on courses in Georgia and Florida. Probably have not played real golf in 5 years or so due to a knee injury.

Then in January of 2013 one day I did a Google search on "Playing golf on the internet". And came up with WGT as a golfing site. Glad I did. Enjoyed playing and learning about WGT golf. Played mostly all day trying to achieve as many "experience points" as possible as quickly as possible. I played only stroke play games by myself mainly on Kianah , St Andrews and Congressional.

In March of this year decided it might be fun to join a country club atmosphere. After a very short search I discovered Senior Citizens Country Club and life has not been the same since. I sent in a request for membership and I was a bit impatient when I heard nothing back the next day so I sent in another request. When I received my acceptance note, I was thrilled. However bad news was contained within the good news of the acceptance. I would be expected to play in SCCC Tournaments and I never ever even considered playing in a Tournament. But I decided to venture unto the road less traveled and play one and never looked back. It was actually fun. lol lol Thank You Frank for inviting me to join SCCC. Appreciate it every day Pal.

The population of SCCC is a tremendous grouping of assorted individuals that blend together to form our wonderful club. New friendships being formed weekly. Such a joy. I would encourage everyone in SCCC to invite all members of SCCC to be on their Friends List. This enables you to have more friends available at all times to play games with. Games and Tournaments are the life blood of SCCC.

Recently started playing games with others using Skype as a vehicle. You can play golf with up to three other friends and forget about typing. Just like walking down the fairway with your friends as you chat, discuss shots or anything you desire to discuss. Did I say it was FREE. Just go to www.skype.com and download Skype. Easy to do taking about 2 minutes. You will need to register your Skype User Name and Password. Then go to the Profile Page of foreverhackin and inform Sean of your Skype User Name and tell him you would like to be admitted to the SCCC Skype Chat Room. Currently at about 40 members and growing daily. A great place to meet other club members, form friendships, arrange for games, exchange golf tips and just hang out. Chat Room is open 24 X 7: light is always on.

An interesting sidenote.

Our granddaughter Alyssa is a senior attending Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School in Winter Haven, Florida. During High School she has been taking both high school and college credit courses. Her high school is located adjacent to but separate from her college. She will graduate this year from the high school. But the unique item about this plan is that 4 weeks before she graduates from high school, she will graduate from Polk State College with a AA degree. An unusual and very successful program being utilized by the state of Florida introduced years ago by a Governor Jeb Bush Program.

Roberttuff500

My name is Robert Tuff. I was born in Wembley, England 64 years ago but spent most of my childhood years in Hemel Hempstead, a new town created to house the overspill from London. I attended the University of York studying linguistics which included a year at the University of Lyon in France. My working life started as an export clerk in a stationery factory and this afforded me the opportunity of working for the same company in South Africa for 3 years. Following this I became an officer in Her Majesty’s Immigration Service and worked for 12 years at Heathrow Airport and in a specialist unit dealing with forged documents. I then changed from gamekeeper to poacher and formed my own immigration consultancy company which I ran until my retirement 5 years ago.

I am married to Alena, who is from the Czech Republic; and we decided to make our home there following retirement. We also spend time in Turkey to escape the worst of the winter, which can be very harsh in central Europe. We love to travel and have arranged home exchanges in Switzerland, Slovenia, Florida, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Other travels have included Thailand, Mauritius, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia etc.

My main hobby apart from golf is birdwatching and taking photos of the birds I see in all my travels; although these have been less of late with the arrival of our first grandson. I also love to play online golf on WGT and especially enjoy being a member of SCCC. Please feel free to invite me for a game whenever you see me online.

Ifixcars

My name is Jim. I'm 55 years old, and not yet retired. As you can guess by my WGT handle, I'm a professional auto mechanic. I've been in that business for 37 years; started right out of high school.

I'm married to Kathy, my high school sweetheart, for 36 years now. (She is destined for immediate sainthood) We have three sons, all in their 30's, and two beautiful grand-daughters, soon to be 10 and 12. The girls bring a lot of joy to Kathy, who gets to spoil the girls we never had. Grandpa does his share of spoiling, too, in case you're wondering.

My hobbies are golf, computers, motorcycle riding, and model trains. I am a devout Christian, and try to reflect that in all that I do. That said, I fail and fall quite often. I try to keep an upbeat attitude, since I believe there's a greater future ahead after this life is over. I joined WGT late in 2012, thinking it would be a good way for my sons and me to keep playing golf (in a manner of speaking) during the Indiana winter. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to get as addicted as I did. Not long after I posted a brief intro in the WGT forums, I got a friend request from someone named MulliganPatty. Patty is definitely one of the nicest people you'd ever want a round of virtual golf with (despite the BOTS thing). She eventually convinced me to try the Senior Citizens Country Club, even though I wasn't QUITE a senior yet. (Well, technically, by AARP standards, I guess I was)

I really can't say enough good things about SCCC. Everyone whom I have friended in the club, or had the pleasure to play a virtual round with, has been pleasant, respectful, and gracious in victory or defeat. Sure, there's some smack-talking, but ya gotta let that roll off your back. I'll be happy to have a match with anyone if I'm on and not busy, so give me an invite if you see my green light! I must finish by expressing my thanks to ForeverHackin, OldBones29, Stick187, and all the others who do so much to make this club great, and, of course, my friend Patty, who introduced me to this madness called SCCC.

May God bless you all abundantly!

Jim

RETAFNCO

I am David Bosh aka RETAFNCO which stands for Retired Air Force Non Commissioned Officer. I was born (at a very early age) in Attleboro MA and left to join the United States Air Force when I was a very dumb 17 years old.

I served 22 years in the United States Air Force. I was stationed in 7 different states and 4 Countries (Philippines, Thailand, Netherlands and England). I started out a Jet engine Mechanic on F-4 Aircraft, and then became a Maintenance Scheduling Technician and (computer) Files Maintenance Technician. I finished my career as a First Sergeant of the 67th Air Rescue and Recovery Squadron based in England, with detachments in Iceland, Spain and Germany which I visited once a quarter. I was also attached to the 7th Special Operations Squadron based in Germany. While on active duty, I graduated from Wayland Baptist University and received a BA in Occupational Education.

After retirement in 1986, I went to work for the State of Texas as a Regional Director for Human Resources. I was promoted to Regional Director for Administrative Services until I left to move to Florida. I moved to Tallahassee Florida and went to work for the State of Florida as the Director of Management Information Systems for the Division of Safety. I also worked in similar positions for the Florida Legislature, and Agency for Workforce Innovations and The Division of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. I Retired from the State of Florida and returned to Texas when my father-in-law was diagnosed with Dementia (Alzheimer’s) and we returned to take care of him. I returned to work with the State of Texas as a Regional Director for Support Services for 5 regions of the Department of Family and Protective Services. I retired from the State of Texas in 2012.

I am married to my first wife of 47 years and have to daughters. My wife does not play golf (but my next wife will play golf) I enjoy playing real golf and we are active volunteers for the Meals on Wheels organization in our community. I have also volunteered as a mediator for the local Dispute Resolution Center where I mediated juvenile offender cases, divorce cases and general dispute cases.

I currently work a part time job two days a week for a local Auto Auction which I very much enjoy. Almost everyone that I work with is retired and we enjoy “swapping lies” as we go about our routine.

I really enjoy the friends I have made at SCCC it is without a doubt, the best Country Club on WGT. I have been a member of several Country Clubs and none have even come close to SCCC. One club didn’t even contact me after I joined and to my knowledge, I never even played a game with anyone in the club.

Smoke11

My name is Jack and I live near Knoxville, TN. I have been retired almost five years and love it. I play a lot of real golf and I am married (to a golfer, also) and have 3 grown children, 4 grandchildren, and one really sweet 3-year old great-granddaughter. My hobbies are golf, camping, wood-working in my shop, and riding my Goldwing. We moved to this area in 1985 from central Ohio when my employer relocated the manufacturing facility to Tennessee.

I found WGT one night playing around on the internet. Looked like something I’d like to play around with and her I am 2 years latter. I’ve had a lot of great fun and met a lot of great golfers. I hope to keep on doing the same.

Have a gr8 golf day….. Jack Elder (Smoke11)

Ashlinco

My name is Dawn and I am 45 years old. I am married and have two beautiful teen age children. My daughter Ashley is 16, and my son Lincoln is 18. I used to play on a similiar golf site back in 1998, called LinksLS98. I guess thats why I caught on to this game so fast here on WGT.

I work for Canada Post. I have been a full time letter carrier for the last 17 years. I plan on retiring in January 2014. I was playing a game one day when I was asked by MulliganPatty if I would join the Senior Citizens CC. I thought about it and joined the next day. Since joining, I have been getting numerous friend requests, and invites to play. I find all the people I have met to be very nice and helpful in any way possible. I don't regret joining and look forward to playing a lot, with the other members of the club.

Canadian, born and raised in a Western Prairie Province in a village with less than 500 population. Schooling taken in one school, Gr.1 thru 12 Got my first motorcycle at age 14 and have kept my licence and continued to ride for past 45+ yrs. Always liked Uniforms, so was Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and spent a short time in the Canadian Army Militia. . At early age dreamed of becoming a Mountie and held that dream throughout my school years. Six months out of High School , I joined the RCMP and spent 25 anda half years policing the neighbouring Province. Upon retiring from the Mounties, I returned to my home Province to spend time with my parents. I was blessed with 11 yrs of getting to know my Father before he passed and am still enjoying time with Mother.

Just having turned 60, I am Married to the third foolish woman to have said “I Do” and continue to work outside of the home with those that will have me. Put a Cork in the Bottle(No model ship inside) 26+ yrs. ago, which was in a way a Public Service to the rest of society.

Joined WGT in Feb of 2013 after it was brought to my attention by a work mate. My First CC collapsed after the Owner left WGT, and I then joined a small, but very talented CC, only to find most of my time was spent with friends outside of the CC and Solo tourneys the majority of CC involvement.

First met Nancy, who intro’d me to Jack and Patti and with a gentle nudge from Jack to check out the CC, I saw something very appealing and made my application. The rest is history and I am a contented Virtual Golfer with locker for my Golf Bag amongst friends and those friends yet to be made.

Am a Die Hard Chevrolet supporter only because they have supplied me with all of my vehicles and kept me satisfied. May I always have a Chevy Truck in my driveway.
